We source all our flowers directly from our Farms in Kenya. Here the long hours of sunshine and warm temperature are perfect for producing consistently beautiful blooms.
As the climate is so well suited, there is no need to use vast energy hungry greenhouses used by many growers, which makes our horticultural production naturally kinder to the environment
You may be surprised that a Kenyan grown rose has significantly less of the carbon footprint of a rose grown in UK or Europe, including air miles. We follow environmentally conscious procedures wherever possible
- 100 % of drain water is re-used by treatment through a UV filtration machine and we have water catchment areas on all our greenhouses so when it rains all rainwater is channeled into rain water reservoirs
- Green waste is mulched to provide nitrogen rich compost
- We have constructed reservoirs to hold water for 260+ days past the rainy season, so the local river isn’t drained or pumped

Purely Roses are committed to supporting the Kenyan families and communities who grow our roses.
- Our growers are paid higher salaries compared to other farms and industry in the area
- A free lunch is provided to every worker 365 days a year
- As much drinking water per day as needed
- Free clinic healthcare
- Free Transport to and from work everyday
In addition our farms are actively involved in charity work and the farm pays the rent for one of the buildings at New Hope children's home located on the coast of Kenya in Mombasa. Please visit http://www.newhopechildren.org/
Purely Roses maintains its own trial greenhouse with trial varieties from all the leading breeders including De Ruiters, Interplant, Kordes, Lex,Meilland, Nirp, Olij Roses, Schreurs, Spec, Tantau and Terra Nigra. The trial greenhouse facilitates assessment of the varieties under our specific growing conditions in Athi River with specific reference to establishment criteria for the crop, flower quality including stem length, colour, headsize, vaselife and suitability for transportation. Quality to the point of destination is considered most important in determination of roses grown at Purely Roses.
Purely Rose propagates all the plants grown on the farm and additionally prepares rose plants for other growers both locally and internationally.
At Purely Roses, we are committed to the use of environmentally friendly and sustainable technology in the control of pests on our flower farm. This has been made possible by our integrated pest management holistic approach to the control of pests that involves the use of cultural, mechanical, biological and chemical pest control methods. This has resulted in high quality flowers and a well protected biodiversity around the farm.
